Rep. Lehman Franklin’s Legislation Signed Into Law by Governor Brian Kemp
ATLANTA – State Representative Lehman Franklin (R-Statesboro) today announced that Governor Brian Kemp signed House bills 302 and 480 into law on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. During his first legislative session in office, Rep. Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Urges Increased State Funding for Georgia HBCUs
ATLANTA – State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah), chair of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC), urges the Georgia General Assembly to increase state funding for the state’s historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). The caucus has expressed concern that the state’s current funding formula for its public higher education institutions has negatively impacted HBCUs, such as Savannah State University.

Georgia DOT commits $9.1 million for two Blue Mile projects
Agency partnering with local governments to improve infrastructure in Statesboro
ATLANTA – Georgia House of Representatives Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) announced Thursday, April 27, that the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has committed $9.1 million in funding for two projects associated with the Creek on the Blue Mile. The first will replace bridges or culverts over Little Lotts Creek, and the second will aid in funding the promenade/path from S. College Street to S. Zetterower Avenue.
