Reps. Burnough, Davis, Scott, Schofield Encourage Georgians to Return to Work, Seek Minimum Wage Increase

ATLANTA – State Representatives Rhonda Burnough (D-Riverdale), Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountains), Sandra Scott (D-Rex) and Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) continue to work on behalf of Georgia workers who lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic and encourage these Georgians to return to work. These legislators empathize with Georgia workers who have become accustomed to an increase in income due to the additional $300 federal Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits, and as such, they seek to increase the minimum wage in Georgia.

Gov. Kemp Appoints Rep. Bonner to COVID-19 Economic Impact Committee

ATLANTA – State Representative Josh Bonner (R-Fayetteville), who is one of the governor’s floor leaders, was recently appointed by Governor Brian Kemp to serve as a member of one of the Georgia Jobs and Infrastructure Committees. As a member of the Economic Impact Committee, Rep. Bonner will work to make recommendations to Gov. Kemp regarding federal coronavirus relief funds that were allocated to Georgia through the American Rescue Plan.

Reps. Schofield, Davis, Burnough Participate in “Georgia Day of Action on Unemployment”

ATLANTA – State Representatives Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta), Rhonda Burnough (D-Riverdale) and Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) recently participated in the “Georgia Day of Action on Unemployment” on Thursday, June 24. The event was held in support of unemployed Georgians who lost their jobs due to no fault of their own, as well as those impacted by the governor’s decision to end additional federal Unemployment Insurance benefits on June 26.
