ATLANTA – State Representative Sharon Cooper (R-Marietta), chairman of the House Health and Human Services Committee, was recently selected as a recipient of the 2019 Charlotte Wilen Maternal & Infant Health Advocates of the Year Award by the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia. Rep. Cooper was chosen for this award for championing House Bill 345, legislation which improves health care conditions for pregnant inmates or inmates who are in the immediate postpartum period, during the 2019 legislative session. Rep. Allen Introduces Legislation to Create “Georgia Recovers” Special State License Plate

ATLANTA – State Representative Erick Allen (D-Smyrna) recently introduced House Bill 326, legislation which would create a special state license plate to benefit the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse’s (GCSA) Georgia Recovers program and the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network (GMHCN). This license plate seeks to honor people in recovery from addiction and mental health challenges, their allies and professionals who have dedicated themselves to help improve lives and communities.
