ATLANTA – State Representative Scot Turner (R-Holly Springs) today led the Georgia House of Representatives in recognizing and honoring retiring Holly Springs Mayor Tim Downing and retiring Holly Springs Police Chief Ken Ball on their retirements and years of service to their communities. Rep. Watson Introduces Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Act

ATLANTA – State Representative Sam Watson (R-Moultrie) recently introduced the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Act, or House Bill 332, legislation that would create a dedicated source of funding for land conservation throughout Georgia. Additionally, House Resolution 238, companion legislation that would call for a required voter referendum in November 2018, would propose that 75 percent of the existing sales and use tax on outdoor recreation equipment be dedicated for the protection of the state’s water, wildlife and quality of life. Rep. Blackmon’s Bill Updating Georgia’s Invasion of Privacy Law Passes House

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives today overwhelmingly passed House Bill 9 by a vote of 156-1. Authored by State Representative Shaw Blackmon (R-Bonaire), the bill would change Georgia’s invasion of privacy laws to make filming under or through a person’s clothing a felony in Georgia. Rep. Beasley-Teague Appointed to NCSL Labor and Economic Development Committee

ATLANTA – House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) recently appointed State Representative Sharon Beasley-Teague (D-Red Oak) to the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Labor and Economic Development Committee. The Labor and Economic Development Committee is one of nine NCSL Standing Committees, which provides a forum for the discussion of major issues facing the states and allows legislators to learn from the experiences of other states.
