House Budget Includes over $1.7 Million In Education Funding for Troup County

ATLANTA – State Representative Randy Nix (R-LaGrange) announced today that the Georgia House of Representatives included funding in the Amended Fiscal Year 2014 (AFY 2014) state budget totaling $1,726,529 for the Troup County Board of Education. Rep. Nix, who led the efforts to secure this one time allocation, made the announcement following today’s House passage of House Bill 743. The AFY 2014 budget is the state’s mid-year spending plan which helps fund the final few months of the current fiscal year. Rep. Calvin Smyre to be Inducted into International Civil Rights Walk of Fame

Rep. Barbara Sims Named Chairman of State Properties Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Barbara Sims (R-Augusta) as the Chairman of the State Properties Committee. Rep. Sims also serves as the Secretary of the Economic Development & Tourism Committee, and as a member of the Appropriations, Health & Human Services, Rules, Science and Technology, and Transportation committees.
