ATLANTA –State Representative Alisha Thomas Morgan (D-Austell) was recently named one of the top black women affecting education in the country by The Root. Rep. Morgan joins professors, reformers, and other national legislators who were also named to The Root’s list of top black women impacting education.
“I am honored to be among this list of distinguished women,” said Rep. Morgan. “I will continue to work hard locally and nationally to help ensure that our children receive the quality education they deserve.”
Rep. Morgan received this honor based on her leadership for parent empowerment and high quality traditional public and charter schools in Georgia. Additionally, Rep. Morgan has joined a select group of bipartisan national legislators to work with Education Secretary Arne Duncan on the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, formerly known as “No Child Left Behind.”
