Rep. Allen Peake Named Chairman of House Medical Cannabis Working Group

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Allen Peake (R-Macon) as the Chairman of the House medical cannabis working group. Rep. Peake will also serve as a member on the Appropriations, Health & Human Services, Rules, Small Business Development and Ways & Means committees.

“I am grateful to Speaker Ralston for granting me this opportunity to help find a solution regarding providing safe, lab tested medical cannabis for hurting Georgians by establishing this working group in the House,” said Rep. Peake.  “I look forward to working with him, and my colleagues, on this crucial issue for many of our citizens.”

House working groups differ from standing committees in that they are term-limited and will expire at the end of this legislative term. This working group has been tasked with working on legislation relating to medical cannabis.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
