Rep. Angela Moore Partners with Princess and a Pad to Bring Period Poverty Program to Young Women of Stonecrest and Rockdale

ATLANTA – State Representative Angela Moore (D-Stonecrest) recently partnered with Princess and a Pad organization to bring a period poverty program to young women of Stonecrest and Rockdale.

“Period poverty and lack of access to sanitary products can be a substantial barrier to young women achieving success, so we are working together to eliminate it in House District 91,” said Rep. Moore. “Join in our shared belief against period poverty to assist those in need in South DeKalb and Rockdale counties, which we have not had on such a global scale before.”

Princess and a Pad is a certified 501(c)(3) organization that provides menstrual kits, school supplies, mentorship and education to young women. Their mission is to empower women with the tools they need to succeed and, in doing so, help break the cycle of poverty and ensure that every girl has a fair shot at graduating and achieving her dreams, unincumbered.

“The Princess and a Pad program also includes the distribution of prom dresses to senior students, and this is very exciting not only for me but for our seniors who ordinarily have to skip going to their own prom because of the high cost of a dress,” added Rep. Moore. “I believe that every girl deserves to look and feel beautiful on her prom night. Princess and a Pad has partnered with other organizations during prom season to provide girls with fabulous prom dresses and clutches filled with hygiene products.”

“We understand that young women come from all walks of life, and we strive to make sure that all of them have the same opportunity to look and feel amazing,” said Princess and a Pad Founder Ashlynn Earl. “I am proud to be part of a movement to empower young women and give them the tools they need to walk into their proms with confidence.”

Product donations will go directly to young women in junior and high schools of House District 91. To donate products, please follow the Amazon link here. Volunteers will assemble care packages, and the products will ship directly to the warehouse for distribution to schools.
