Rep. Anulewicz’s Workplace Harassment Legislation to Receive House Judiciary Committee Hearing Followed by Press Conference

ATLANTA – State Representative Teri Anulewicz (D-Smyrna) will present House Bills 1390 and 1389, legislation to protect against workplace harassment, during the House Judiciary Committee meeting TOMORROW, Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 9 a.m. in room 132 of the Georgia State Capitol. Rep. Anulewicz will also hold a press conference to discuss this legislation TOMORROW, Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the South Wing Steps of the State Capitol.

“Georgia is one of just a handful of states that does not have these protections in place,” said Rep. Anulewicz. “It is common sense that the number one state for business should also be safest for the workers that help Georgia businesses to thrive.”

House Bill 1389, or the Georgia Safe Workplaces Act, seeks to ensure that employees at private companies are protected from workplace harassment by providing legal protections for those who report harassment. This bill would also protect whistleblowers who fear retaliation in the workplace.

House Bill 1390, which has bipartisan support, would also give city and county employees in Georgia the right of action to protect against retaliation from their employers.
