Rep. Arlene Beckles Selected to Participate in 2025 Georgia Legislative Leadership Institute at UGA

ATLANTA – State Representative Arlene Beckles (D-Norcross) was recently selected by Speaker Jon Burns to participate in the 2025 Georgia Legislative Leadership Institute (GLLI) hosted by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia.

“I am grateful to Speaker Burns for selecting me to participate in this prestigious leadership course, which is designed to help freshmen legislators develop their leadership abilities and become more effective lawmakers,” said Rep. Beckles. “I look forward to the opportunity to strengthen these skills so that I can best represent House District 96. I am eager to bring the lessons I learn back to the State Capitol when we return for our next legislative session in January 2026.”

GLLI will take place from July 31 – August 3, 2025, and it brings together select freshman legislators nominated by Speaker Burns and Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones. Throughout the institute, participants will engage in interactive sessions, breakout discussions and peer learning opportunities.

Since its inception in 2005, GLLI has trained more than 200 Georgia legislators in essential leadership skills and collaborative governance. The three-and-a-half-day program is designed to help new legislators develop and strengthen their abilities to become more effective leaders and informed decision-makers in the Georgia General Assembly.

Representative Arlene Beckles represents the citizens of District 96, which includes a portion of Gwinnett County. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2024 and currently serves on the Special Rules, State Properties and Technology and Infrastructure Innovation committees.
