ATLANTA – State Representative B.J. Pak (R-Lilburn) hosted Mayor Johnny Crist, the Mayor of Lilburn and former pastor of the Atlanta Vineyard Church, as the “Chaplain of the Day” for the Georgia House of Representatives on Thursday, March 7, 2013.
“I am honored that Rev. Crist was able to take some time off his busy schedule today as Mayor of the City of Lilburn to share with my House colleagues his message of faith and conviction,” said Rep. Pak. “His message regarding leadership and faith was very relevant and timely.”
As “Chaplain of the Day,” Mayor Crist gave a brief sermon and led the Georgia House of Representatives in prayer and the pledge of allegiance before legislative action began for the day.
Mayor Crist earned his doctorate degree at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. After earning his doctorate, Reverend Crist and his wife, Anne, relocated to Atlanta to pioneer a new church, the Atlanta Vineyard Church. Under his leadership over the past 30 years, the Atlanta Vineyard has given birth to 19 daughter churches.
In addition to his accomplishments as a pastor, Reverend Crist served one term in the Lilburn City Council before being elected Mayor.
In January 2012, Reverend Crist resigned from the Atlanta Vineyard Church after 30 years of service, and began devoting his full time to serving the City of Lilburn as its Mayor.
Representative B.J. Pak represents the citizens of District 108, which includes portions of Gwinnett County.
