“It was a pleasure to host this group of outstanding young Georgians at their State Capitol,” said Rep. Belton. “Each child was attentive, eager to participate, and excited to spend time under the Gold Dome. I’d like to extend a special thanks to the Madison-Morgan County Boys and Girls Club for investing in our community’s children by organizing this event.”

The group from the Madison-Morgan County Boys and Girls Club participated in a Capitol scavenger hunt where they discovered artifacts, artwork and a Steffan Thomas sculpture of Eugene Talmadge.

Rep. Belton then met with the group for a photo and led them into the House chamber where they learned about the state’s history. In the chamber, Rep. Belton discussed how a bill becomes a law and encouraged everyone to register to vote when they turn 18-years-old. The group also had the opportunity to ask questions about state government and Rep. Belton’s role as an elected official.

After their visit at the Capitol, the group had a picnic lunch and visited the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site.
