Rep. Bill Werkheiser Reappointed Chairman of House Industry and Labor Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments reappointed State Representative Bill Werkheiser (R-Glennville) as the Chairman of the House Industry and Labor Committee.

“I am grateful to Speaker Burns and my legislative colleagues for placing their trust in me to once again serve the House and the citizens of Georgia in this capacity,” said Rep. Werkheiser. “As the General Assembly continues to focus on legislation to address career readiness and workforce development issues this legislative session, our committee will remain committed to carefully reviewing legislation that will enable our state to remain the number one state in the nation in which to do business for years to come.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives. 

The House Industry and Labor Committee focuses on issues surrounding labor and management relations. It also has jurisdiction on matters dealing with worker’s compensation and Georgia’s Worker’s Compensation Board.

Representative Bill Werkheiser represents the citizens of District 157, which includes Evans and Jeff Davis counties, as well as portions of Appling and Tattnall counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2014 and currently serves as Chairman of the Industry and Labor Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and the Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Judiciary Juvenile, Public Safety and Homeland Security and State Properties committees, as well as the Special Committee on Resource Management.
