ATLANTA – State Representative Brett Harrell (R-Snellville) today introduced House Bill 49, legislation that would permit the option to elect paperless billing for property taxes.
“Upon becoming law, HB 49 responds to citizens’ desires for simplified billing, while having the potential to save counties thousands of dollars in billing costs each year,” said Rep. Harrell. “My home county of Gwinnett estimates savings of approximately $100,000 per year in billing costs under HB 49.”
HB 49 incorporates language from a bill previously introduced in 2013 by Rep. Harrell. The original e-billing property tax legislation passed the House by a vote of 160-0, and also received support from the Association of County Commissioners and the Georgia Municipal Association.
