ATLANTA – House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) recently appointed State Representative Brian Prince (D-Augusta) to the House Study Committee on Base Realignment and Closure.
“I want to thank Speaker Ralston for his confidence in my abilities to contribute to this forward thinking, proactive and strategically important study committee,” said Rep. Prince. “Our military bases contribute in large part to our local economies and infrastructure, but more importantly, to our national defense. I believe this effort will give us a unique opportunity to review the lessons learned from previous BRAC studies and to develop strategies to grow our military installations. I am glad that Fort Gordon is one of the sites the committee will visit as a part of the study process, and I look forward to working with local leaders, both military and civilian, to help tell the story of the success realized at Fort Gordon.”
This fifteen member study committee, Chaired by State Representative Dave Belton (R-Buckhead), is established by House Resolution 1135 and will examine how to protect Georgia’s military installations from a future federal base realignment and closure action.
