Rep. Brian Strickland Receives 2016 Legislator of the Year Award from Georgia Association of Solicitors-General

ATLANTA – State Representative Brian Strickland (R- McDonough) was recently awarded the 2016 Legislator of the Year Award from the Georgia Association of Solicitors-General (GASG). GASG’s Legislative Committee unanimously voted to honor Rep. Strickland with this distinction for his efforts to revise Georgia’s Misdemeanor Discovery Laws.

“It is an honor to receive this recognition from the prosecutors of this state,” said Rep. Strickland.  “Given the recent events involving law enforcement officers around our country, I am especially proud to be recognized for the work I have done with the folks that are working on the front lines in our criminal justice system.”

“The Association wanted to make a special effort to recognize Representative Strickland because we recognize and appreciate the dedication he has shown to improving the rules that govern misdemeanor criminal practice,” said Rebecca L. Grist, Bibb County Solicitor-General, and President of the Georgia Association of Solicitors-General.

“I am not only proud of the work Representative Strickland has done on a number of legislative issues affecting Georgia prosecutors, but I am equally proud that he is a Statesman representing the people of District 111 and Henry County.  Brian is an effective leader at the Capitol and a wonderful selection for Legislator of the Year by the Georgia Association of Solicitor’s General,” said Trea Pipkin, Solicitor-General Henry County.
