Rep. Bruce Williamson Appointed to Joint Industry Incentives for Financial Technologies and the Payment Processing Industry Study Committee

ATLANTA – House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) recently appointed State Representative Bruce Williamson (R-Monroe) to the Joint House and Senate Industry Incentives for Financial Technologies and the Payment Processing Industry Study Committee.

“I would like to thank Speaker Ralston for appointing me to serve on this important study committee,” said Rep. Williamson. “The payment processing industry has a tremendous economic impact in Georgia, and with the recent growth of this popular technology throughout the world, it is imperative that we study ways in which we can maintain our state’s competitive edge in this evolving marketplace. As a small business owner, I hope that my understanding of financial and technological trends will add value and offer a unique perspective as a member of this committee.”

This eight member joint study committee is established by Senate Resolution 883 and is charged with examining the conditions, needs, issues, and problems associated with utilizing new forms of financial technology in the payment processing industry in an effort to protect consumers and citizens in Georgia, as well as provide the state with the necessary resources to continue to invest in the financial security and longevity of global markets.
