Rep. CaMia Hopson Serves as Keynote Speaker for Dougherty County Rotary Club Meeting

ATLANTA – State Representative CaMia Hopson (D-Albany) recently served as the keynote speaker for the Rotary Club of Dougherty County’s monthly meeting on September 23, 2021.

“It was an honor to be invited to speak before so many business owners and community leaders who pour into building Dougherty County,” said Rep. Hopson. “I look forward to working with these leaders to keep our city and the surrounding county a wonderful place to live and work. While our census data shows that we’ve had a significant decrease in our population, our community still stands strong. I implore our residents to continue to be cheerleaders and advocates for the Albany area so we can show the rest of Georgia what we have to offer.”

During the monthly meeting, Rep. Hopson discussed the upcoming special legislative session in November 2021, which will focus on the state’s redistricting process. She also shared about legislation that may be considered during the 2022 legislative session. Rep. Hopson then provided data regarding the 2020 U.S. Census and its potential impact on the Dougherty County area. Rep. Hopson also encouraged the citizens of Albany to continue to be diligent in helping in the fight against COVID-19 as the rate of positive cases is increasing in Albany. Finally, she connected with members over football and shared her predictions for this weekend’s college football games.

The Rotary Club of Dougherty County meets every Thursday at noon at the Doublegate Country Club in Albany. The Rotary of Dougherty County was chartered on January 11, 1917, as place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form friendships.
