ATLANTA – Today, State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah) applauds the final passage of House Bill 762, which would establish the Savannah Music Commission. The bill, which passed through the Local Consent Calendar in the Georgia State Senate, seeks to promote and enhance Savannah’s music community and offer benefits to the local entertainment and music industry.
“I am deeply grateful to see House Bill 762 successfully pass and make its way to the governor’s desk for signature,” said Rep. Gilliard. “Savannah’s music scene is integral to the city’s rich history and culture. Supporting the growth of our local entertainment and music industry is crucial to ensuring continued success—not only for our community, but for the entire State of Georgia. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my colleagues in both the House and Senate for their commitment to the creation of the Savannah Music Commission, and I look forward to its bright future and the success it will bring.”
HB 762 would create the Savannah Music Commission to focus on the needs of Savannah’s music industry, promoting musical events, supporting musicians and fostering new opportunities for collaboration among artists, venues and the broader community. The commission would play a role in creating programs that highlight Savannah’s rich musical heritage while attracting new talent and events to the city.
