Rep. Carl Gilliard to be Recognized for 39 Years of Public Service

ATLANTA – State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah) will be recognized for his 39 years of public service during a celebration event on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 6 p.m. in the ballroom of the Savannah Civic Center.

During the event, State Representative Derrick Jackson (D-Tyrone) will serve as a keynote speaker and will highlight Rep. Gilliard’s service to the nation, state and Chatham County. There will be national and state leaders in attendance and special presentations for Chatham Juvenile Court Judge Tom Cole, Chatham County Superior Court Judge Timothy Walmsley and South Carolina State Representative Wendell Gilliard. Rep. Gilliard will also discuss his new book, “The Power of the Pen,” which tells the story behind repealing Georgia’s citizen’s arrest statute.
