ATLANTA – State Representative Chris Erwin (R-Homer), Chairman of the House Education Committee, will join House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) and the Georgia Council on Literacy for Georgia Reads Day on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Georgia State Capitol.
Malcolm Mitchell, CEO and Founder of the Share the Magic Foundation and Georgia Reads Coach for Georgia Reads, will announce the 10 winners of the Georgia Reads Community Award and the 2025 READBowl state champions. The Georgia Reads Community Award aims to strengthen and unite the literacy ecosystem, paving the way for a new era of understanding. During the event, Georgia Reads will also recognize 10 communities that have demonstrated a commitment to literacy through at least a three-year partnership and improvements, awarding them $25,000 to further support their efforts.
Georgia Reads, an initiative of the Georgia Council on Literacy aimed at raising awareness about the need to improve reading skills in all age groups, is partnering with the Georgia Municipal Association and its nonprofit, Georgia City Solutions, along with the Share the Magic Foundation for the event.
