Rep. Dar’shun Kendrick Introduces Legislation Relating to the Invest Georgia Fund

ATLANTA – State Representative Dar’shun Kendrick (D-Lithonia) recently introduced House Bill 1138, legislation relating to fund administrator and investments relative to the Invest Georgia Fund. The Invest Georgia Fund is a long-term investment program, backed by the state of Georgia, that is designed to help grow and mentor current, new and future Georgia venture capital and private equity investment funds in the state of Georgia.

“The Invest Georgia Fund Program serves as a beacon of opportunity for growth and mentorship for Georgia’s venture capital and private equity investment funds,” said Rep. Kendrick. “This legislation would extend the opportunity to foster long-term success by encouraging the opportunity for investment to the entire demographic makeup of Georgia. I am proud to support this legislation and the Invest Georgia Fund as it paves the way for the creation of high-paying jobs that drive our states economic success.”

HB 1138 would amend current law relating to fund administrator and investments by adding language to promote and reflect the demographic makeup of Georgia.

HB 1138 has been assigned to the House Committee on Economic Development and Tourism. A hearing on HB 1138 has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 13, 2024. You may watch the hearing live here.
