ATLANTA – State Representative Dar’shun Kendrick (D-Lithonia) will hold a virtual town hall to discuss legislative solutions in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 6 p.m. via Facebook live. To participate in this Facebook live event, please email dar’shun.kendrick@house.ga.gov with the subject line as “Facebook Live.”
Participants will have an opportunity to propose legislative initiatives that they would like to see introduced during the 2023 legislative session, which will convene in January 2023. In addition to discussing access to legal abortions, Rep. Kendrick will present her “Real Right to Life” legislative package. This legislative package includes expanding Medicaid to cover nearly 500,000 more Georgians, doubling the state budget for health and human services to combat maternal and infant mortality, free college tuition for children in the foster care system, as well as a $10,000 child care tax credit for children in foster care.
“The dismantling of women’s reproductive rights by the recent Supreme Court decision reversing Roe v. Wade is not only devastating to Georgia women, who have one of the highest mortality rates in the nation, but also to women throughout the nation,” said Rep. Kendrick. “America boasts about freedoms and rights until it comes to women or those who are economically disadvantaged. I hope you will join me this week to come up with a ‘Real Right to Life’ legislative package – one that protects real lives and real Georgians.”
