ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Deborah Silcox (R-Sandy Springs) as the Chair of the House Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Overview Committee (MARTOC) and Vice Chair of the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee.
“I want to thank Speaker Burns for the opportunity to serve again as MARTOC Chairman,” said Rep. Silcox. “It has been a great pleasure to work with MARTA CEO Collie Greenwood and his team to help MARTA work towards safer, cleaner and more reliable transit in Atlanta. As we move closer to hosting eight World Cup matches here in 2026, I look forward to helping MARTA succeed as they bring on new rail cars, lay out the new Bus Rapid Transit routes and continue making substantial capital improvements that invest in the future success of our region.”
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
MARTOC is a statutory committee with oversight of the MARTA budget.
The House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee has jurisdiction over Georgia’s criminal code and procedure, drug enforcement, sentencing, parole and pardons and immigration. Any legislation that carries a possibility for criminal penalties can be referred to the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee.
