ATLANTA – State Representative Debra Bazemore (D-Riverdale) was recently appointed to serve as Assistant Deputy Whip for the House Minority Caucus. Rep. Bazemore was appointed to serve on as Assistant Deputy Whip by House Minority Caucus Whip Carolyn Hugley (D-Columbus), and her appointment is for a two-year term concurrent with her service as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives.
“I’d like to extend my sincerest thanks to Whip Hugley for appointing me to this leadership role in our caucus,” said Rep. Bazemore. “As the Assistant Minority Whip, I hope to serve as a beneficial resource to my fellow minority caucus members as bills and resolutions move through the legislative process. I look forward to supporting my colleagues as we work to pass meaningful legislation in the upcoming session.”
The Assistant Deputy Whip for the House Minority Caucus is responsible for monitoring legislation as it moves through both chambers of the General Assembly and helping members of the Minority Caucus to better understand the details of bills and resolutions.
Representative Debra Bazemore represents the citizens of District 63, which includes portions of Clayton, Fayette, and Fulton counties. She was elected in 2016, and currently serves on the Intragovernmental Coordination, Natural Resources & Environment, and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
