ATLANTA – State Representative Derrick Jackson (D-Tyrone) was recently appointed to serve as Assistant Deputy Whip for the House Minority Caucus. Rep. Jackson was appointed to serve on as Assistant Deputy Whip by House Minority Caucus Whip Carolyn Hugley (D-Columbus), and his appointment is for a two-year term concurrent with his service as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives.
“It is a privilege to be appointed to serve as Assistant Deputy Whip by Minority Whip Hugley,” said Rep. Jackson. “It is essential that all House members have a clear understanding of bills and resolutions, and I look forward to keeping my Minority Caucus colleagues thoroughly informed on legislative details throughout the upcoming session in this leadership role.”
The Assistant Deputy Whip for the House Minority Caucus is responsible for monitoring legislation as it moves through both chambers of the General Assembly and helping members of the Minority Caucus to better understand the details of bills and resolutions.
Representative Derrick Jackson represents the citizens of District 64, which includes portions of Fayette and Fulton counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2016, and currently serves on the Defense & Veterans Affairs, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
