ATLANTA – State Representative Derrick Jackson (D-Tyrone) was named to the House Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Defense & Veterans Affairs, Regulated Industries and State Planning & Community Affairs committees by Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington).
“I would like to thank the Speaker for assigning me to these important committees, many of which I am already familiar with as a former member of the Georgia House of Representatives,” said Rep. Jackson. “I look forward to joining my colleagues and engaging in the committee process when we return to the Capitol for the 2024 legislative session. Until then, I will spend a good deal of time studying the bills that are still be eligible next session and crafting my own legislative agenda for the citizens of House District 68.”
Rep. Jackson was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives in June 2023. This marked the start of Rep. Jackson’s fourth term in the Georgia General Assembly. Rep. Jackson previously served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2017 to 2022. He was reelected during a special election to succeed the late State Rep. Tish Naghise (D-Fayetteville).
Representative Derrick Jackson represents the citizens of District 68, which includes portions of Fayette and Fulton counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and re-elected in 2023. He currently serves on the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Defense & Veterans Affairs, Regulated Industries and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
