ATLANTA – State Representative Derrick Jackson (D-Tyrone) will welcome students from the University of Tennessee’s Haslam College of Business as part of the university’s 2025 “Business of Sports Tour” on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Georgia State Capitol. The visit will include an exchange with local business, political and community leaders, highlighting the intersection of sports, leadership and economic development across the Southeast.
“This tour provides students with a hands-on understanding of how business, policy and community development come together in one of the most influential industries in the nation,” said Rep. Jackson. “We’re honored to welcome these bright young minds to Atlanta and the Georgia State Capitol to witness how leadership and collaboration drive real change.”
The Business of Sports Tour—a professional development experience for Haslam School of Business students—brings together aspiring business leaders with executives from sports organizations, including the Atlanta Falcons, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta Vibe and the Atlanta Braves. During the event, Rep. Jackson will lead a conversation on public policy, entrepreneurship and the economic impact of the sports industry in Georgia.
The visit will include a roundtable discussion with Georgia legislators, industry leaders and civic partners focused on career pathways, corporate partnerships and innovation in sports business and public leadership. Attendees will also have an opportunity to network with figures shaping Georgia’s business and civic landscape.
Representative Derrick Jackson represents the citizens of District 68, which includes portions of Fayette and Fulton counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and re-elected in 2022.
