Rep. DeWayne Hill Announces Upcoming Road and Bridge Construction Projects in House District 3

ATLANTA – State Representative DeWayne Hill (R-Ringgold) today announced that the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has awarded Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant (LMIG) funding for several construction projects in Catoosa County to improve local roads and rehabilitate bridges. The 2020 LMIG award funding has a combined total of more than $973,300.

“I would like to thank the Georgia Department of Transportation for dedicating resources to support critical infrastructure projects in House District 3,” said Rep. Hill. “Maintaining local roads and bridges not only keeps families safe, but it plays a vital role in bringing economic opportunities to northwest Georgia. As a native and lifelong resident of Catoosa County, I understand firsthand how important these projects are for our families and businesses.”

One of the upcoming construction projects includes resurfacing SR 151 from SR 3 to the Georgia/Tennessee state line; this resurfacing project’s estimated letting is 2021 Q2. The second project will replace a bridge on SR 3 at Peavine Creek, which is 3.7 miles east of Fort Oglethorpe; this bridge project’s estimated letting is 2022 Q3.

Rep. Hill also announced that current bridge rehabilitation projects at various locations on SR 2 and SR 3 in Catoosa and Whitfield counties are 83 percent complete and are expected to be completed in October 2020.
