Rep. Donna McLeod Named to “Legislative Honor Roll” by Georgia Association of Educators

ATLANTA – State Representative Donna McLeod (D-Lawrenceville) was recently named by the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE) as a member of its “Legislative Honor Roll.”

“It is an honor to join the Georgia Association of Educators’ ‘Legislative Honor Roll,’” said Rep. McLeod. “When we support our educators, we ultimately support our children. It is undeniable that our educators have been heroes throughout the pandemic, but many of our teachers have not had the support or resources they need to continue in their calling. However, the GAE has been an amazing advocate for our educators, and I hope to follow their example under the Gold Dome.”

The GAE selected Rep. McLeod for introducing legislation to study the state’s education funding formula. If passed and signed into law, House Bill 71 would authorize the State Board of Education to coordinate with the Office of Planning and Budget to establish a pilot program to explore an alternative student funding formula for Georgia schools.

The Georgia Association of Educators is a professional organization for teachers, administrators and educational support professionals within Georgia’s public schools. The GAE represents members within the state legislature and state agencies on educational issues, convenes coalitions to support public education, supports the rights of educators and provides an extensive benefits package for its membership. The GAE is an affiliate of the National Education Association.
