ATLANTA – State Representative Edward Lindsey (R-Atlanta) issued the following statement in support of Governor Sonny Perdue’s decision to appoint a Special Investigator to examine testing irregularities discovered during the 2009 administration of the CRCT to students in Atlanta Public Schools and Daugherty County Schools:
“I applaud and fully support our Governor’s strong leadership in appointing a Special Investigator to examine CRCT irregularities. The integrity of Atlanta Public Schools has been brought into question, and the only way to restore trust in the system is to discover exactly what took place during the administration of the 2009 CRCT.
“Despite the efforts of the citizen review panel, originally appointed by the Board of the Atlanta Public Schools, the Governor’s actions are necessary because too many serious questions and doubts remain regarding the scope of this serious testing scandal. Taxpayers deserve to know where and how their money is being spent, but there is an even bigger issue here. We must ensure our children are receiving the highest quality education we can provide them. That’s what Georgians pay for, and that’s what our children deserve.”
