ATLANTA – State Representative Edward Lindsey (R-Atlanta) recently received a 2011 Environmental Leadership Award from Georgia Conservation Voters, a statewide non-partisan organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of all Georgians by making conservation issues a top priority with Georgia’s elected officials, political candidates and voters.
“I am pleased to be recognized by the Georgia Conservation Voters, which has worked exhaustively over the years to promote sensible conservation and environmental protections for the people of our great state,” said Rep. Lindsey.
Georgia Conservation Voters works with environmental and outdoor organizations across the state to develop shared legislative priorities each year. The legislators who received Environmental Leadership Awards were chosen based upon their votes and leadership on the common agenda.
“Representative Lindsey stood up for Georgia’s families this year and actively worked to promote an understanding among his colleagues of the need to protect Georgia’s environment as an integral part of preserving our way of life,” said Rob Teilhet, Executive Director of Georgia Conservation Voters. “Thanks to Representative Lindsey’s leadership, Georgia’s natural resources had a voice at the state capital.”
Representative Edward Lindsey was elected by the Republican Caucus as their Majority Whip, the fourth highest ranking position in House leadership, on December 17, 2009. He represents the citizens of House District 54, which includes portions of Atlanta and Sandy Springs. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2004, and currently serves on the Rules, Appropriations, Education, Ethics, Industrial Relations, and Judiciary committees.
