Rep. Efstration Announces Anti-Human Trafficking Initiative

ATLANTA – State Representative Chuck Efstration (R-Dacula) today announced the Convenience Stores Against Trafficking (CSAT) program. The program, which is a partnership between the Georgia Association of Convenience Stores and IN OUR BACKYARD, aims to educate convenience store employees on how to identify signs of human trafficking and distributes stickers and notices to place in convenience stores.

“Georgia is the seventh ranked state in the nation for human trafficking cases, and Atlanta is a major hub for human trafficking largely because our state’s capital city is home to the world’s busiest airport,” said Rep. Efstration. “The Super Bowl will be held in Atlanta next year, and I’m thrilled that the CSAT program will soon launch in Georgia in an effort to combat this horrific epidemic leading up to such an international event.”

The program will officially launch on November 15, 2018, at the Southern Convenience Store & Petroleum Show in Macon, Georgia, with a training seminar for convenience retailers on how to identify signs of human trafficking and proper reporting procedures.

CSAT partners with convenience store retailers, petroleum marketers, state associations and industry suppliers across 29 states. CSAT is a program of IN OUR BACKYARD, a nonprofit organization known for anti-trafficking operations surrounding the past nine Super Bowls.
