ATLANTA – State Representative El-Mahdi Holly (D-Stockbridge) will host Black Men & Boys Day TODAY, Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 2 p.m. in room 216 of the Georgia State Capitol.
Participants will contact their respective legislators in the House and Senate to share their views on legislation. The co-founders of Black Male Initiative Georgia (BMIG), John Taylor and Lyndon Waller, are proponents of legislation that seeks to decrease mass incarceration and promote economic viability for Black/African American people. During the event, they will being honored for their commitment to the community and their work in galvanizing masses around a common goal to benefit the greater collective and the state.
BMIG represents a collective of community leaders, faith leaders, fathers, husbands, businessmen and voters across the state of Georgia. They promote positive narratives about Black men inside of their homes and communities and advocate for legislative reforms for Black men and children.
