ATLANTA – State Representative El-Mahdi Holly (D-Stockbridge) will host the “Give Thanks” holiday food drive TODAY, Monday, November 23, 2020, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Avalon Park in McDonough.
Rep. Holly seeks to assist families in the area who are struggling to rebound from the economic and employment impacts of COVID-19.
“Food insecurity and childhood hunger present major challenges for local families, but I know the pressure on parents to provide meals during the holiday season can be especially stressful,” said Rep. Holly. “People need to know that they don’t have to suffer in the shadows – help is on the way.”
More than 1,000 boxes of freshly packed perishable items from community supported farms will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Each box will contain freshly grown vegetables, including collard greens, sweet potatoes, a quart of milk and meat. This event is sponsored in partnership with Core2Globe, Swanson Family Farms, City of McDonough Councilmember Kamali Varner, City of McDonough Police Department and Connecting Henry, Inc.
