ATLANTA – State Representative Elena Parent (D-DeKalb County) has been selected as one of 83 outstanding Georgians from metro Atlanta to participate in Leadership Atlanta’s Class of 2013, which will run from June 2012 to April 2013.
“I am honored to be chosen for this opportunity, and look forward to the new relationships and knowledge I will gain through participating,” said Rep. Parent. “Working with other leaders to move Atlanta forward is one of the reasons I ran for office, and this will enhance my ability to do that.”
Leadership Atlanta is the oldest sustained community leadership program in the nation. Together with an expansive network of distinguished alumni, Leadership Atlanta continues a proud tradition of connecting and inspiring leaders to strengthen metro Atlanta’s communities.
The core of Leadership Atlanta’s programming is its signature nine-month, executive-level series. Eighty-three established leaders are chosen each year to represent a broad cross-section of metro Atlanta. Through retreats, full-day seminars, service projects, discussion groups and community tours, members explore critical community issues, examine themselves as leaders and build relationships of trust and mutual understanding.
