ATLANTA – State Representative Eric Bell (D-Jonesboro) will join the Elevate ATL South Metro Leadership Academy and the ATL Airport Chamber to host the annual Stuff the Plane: School Supply Drive and Distribution event on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Delta Flight Museum. This community event, hosted by Delta Air Lines, is dedicated to empowering youth in Metro-Atlanta by providing them with the essential tools they need to thrive academically.
“Thank you for considering this opportunity to invest in our community’s future leaders,” said Rep. Bell. “Together, we can create a lasting impact on students’ academic success and overall well-being.”
The event’s mission is to ensure that every child has the best start to the academic year, equipped with necessary school supplies. The event hosts are committed to distributing 10,000 backpacks full of school supplies to children in the community, with the goal of setting students up for success during the 2024-2025 school year. Additionally, 250 students, 75 from each district, along with their chaperones, will receive their backpacks and enjoy an exclusive tour of the Delta Flight Museum.
There are three ways that the community can contribute: donations will directly help purchase school supplies and meet the goal of filling 10,000 backpacks; volunteering will help with assembling and distributing the backpacks, as well as in-kind media and promotions, through news stories, media and social ads, radio stories and more, which will ensure that more community members are informed and can contribute or benefit from the event.
Additionally, the event hosts invite the community to personally donate a backpack and school supplies for a student.
