ATLANTA – State Representative Farooq Mughal (D-Dacula) recently hosted members of the FBI Atlanta Citizens Academy Alumni Association at the Georgia State Capitol on Thursday. February 22, 2024. The alumni association advocates for public safety and security through community engagement and education.
“I extend warm thanks to the FBI Atlanta Citizens Academy Alumni Association for their visit to the Georgia State Capitol,” said Rep. Mughal. “Having had the privilege of serving as the former president of the association from 2017 to 2018, I deeply understand the importance of community involvement in addressing pressing public safety challenges. Their dedication to promoting public safety and security through education and community engagement is commendable. We appreciate their efforts in raising awareness of critical safety issues and look forward to continued collaboration for the well-being of our communities.”
The FBI Atlanta Citizens Academy Alumni Association is a volunteer organization affiliated with the FBI, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and is dedicated to promoting public safety and security through service initiatives, education and community engagement. Through its public education programs, the Alumni Association raises awareness of community safety issues. Many of these issues revolve around cybercrime, violent extremism, drugs, terrorism, gang activity and other criminal activities.
During their visit, Rep. Mughal presented the association with House Resolution 857, which honors the FBI Atlanta Citizens Academy Alumni Association for helping the community by promoting an understanding of public safety and security.
Representative Farooq Mughal represents the citizens of District 105, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Special Rules, Judiciary Non-Civil and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
