ATLANTA – State Representative Farooq Mughal (D-Dacula) recently hosted Farooq Mitha, the Director of the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP). Director Mitha helps small businesses work with the DoD.
“I extend my thanks to Farooq Mitha, Director of the Department of Defense Office of Small Business Programs, for his invaluable expertise in promoting fair competition for state contracts,” said Rep. Mughal. “Recently, $140 billion was awarded to small businesses to help maintain and enhance U.S. military industrial output therefore, it is vital to level the playing field for all businesses, especially in securing state contracts for our veterans and active-duty service members in Georgia, whose sacrifices contribute significantly to our nation’s security and prosperity. It was a pleasure to meet with Director Mitha. I look forward to our continued partnership.”
During their conversation, Rep. Mughal and Director Mitha discussed House Bill 128, legislation that was signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp in April 2023. Now, Georgia has a new certified contractor program which helps minority women and veteran businesses obtain state contracts. The certification has a small business and non-small business category.
Representative Farooq Mughal represents the citizens of District 105, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Special Rules, Judiciary Non-Civil and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
