ATLANTA – State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Garden City) will serve as the keynote speaker at the Georgia Transit Association’s (GTA) 2018 Annual Conference on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at 11:45 a.m. in Jekyll Island.
“Improving transportation is one of the cornerstones of enhancing workforce development, education, and health care in our communities, and I look forward to participating in GTA’s 2018 conference and seeing the transit opportunities that will come from this meeting,” said Rep. Gilliard, “When our state legislators work together with GTA and other stakeholders, we have the ability make a significant difference in the lives of Georgia citizens.”
Rep. Gilliard’s keynote address will highlight potential legislation for the upcoming 2019 legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly. His speech will also encourage GTA’s continued efforts in workforce transit development and providing diverse transportation services to rural Georgians.
The theme for the 2018 conference is “Empowering Georgia Communities,” and the agenda will include topics such as workforce transit, influencing commuter behavior and Georgia’s statewide transit plan.

Representative Carl Gilliard represents the citizens of District 162, which includes portions of Chatham County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and currently serves on the Interstate Cooperation, State Properties and Transportation committees.
