ATLANTA — The Georgia state Senate today unanimously passed House Bill 1200 by a vote of 44-0. Sponsored by Representative Mike Glanton (D-Ellenwood), HB 1200 allows school boards to solicit and accept donations from legal sources for field trips and other school-related purposes.
“Field trips give students a hands-on approach to concepts and lessons that might not be as easily grasped in a classroom setting,” said Representative Glanton. “Unfortunately, with budget cuts to school systems, along with tax base erosions, schools might not be able to afford these valuable programs without help from donations. This legislation gives school systems a way to continue education-related field trips so that Georgia students will receive a first class education.”
The bill now moves to the Governor for his consideration. A link to the bill can be found by clicking here.
