Rep. Glanton Announces College Scholarship Opportunities for Local Students

ATLANTA – State Representative Mike Glanton (D-Jonesboro), in partnership with the Beauty Master Foundation, today announced college scholarship opportunities for high school seniors who attend Atlanta public schools, Clayton or Fulton County public schools and current college freshmen who attend Clayton State University and graduated from Clayton County public schools.

“Today, we are proud to announce more than $30,000 in scholarship opportunities, which is made possible by the generous support and contributions of the Beauty Master Foundation,” said Rep. Glanton. “These contributions are a testament to Beauty Master Foundation’s dedication and support for our students, schools and our communities. Our desire is to help ensure that every child has an opportunity to receive a quality education and educational experience with limited financial obstacles.”

The Beauty Master Foundation will award 30 college-bound students with $1,000 scholarships, which totals $30,000 in awards. To be eligible for a Beauty Master Foundation scholarship, students must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or above. To apply, students must submit: one introductory letter regarding the student’s future plans; one letter of recommendation from a school principal or school counselor; one letter of recommendation from a civic community service non-profit organization detailing the student’s community involvement; and a copy of an official high school transcript.

Important dates for the scholarship applications are as follows:

  • Scholarship Application Opened: June 15, 2019
  • Application and Document Submittals Close: September 30, 2019
  • Scholarship Application Review: October 2019
  • Scholarship Award Notifications: November 2019
  • Scholarship Claiming: November 2019
  • Deadline to Claim Scholarship: November 15, 2019
  • Awards Banquet and Scholarship Payouts: December 7, 2019

Representative Mike Glanton represents the citizens of District 75, which includes portions of Clayton County. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2006 and was re-elected in 2012.
