Rep. Houston Recognizes Eunice Mixon at the State Capitol

ATLANTA – State Representative Penny Houston (R-Nashville) led the Georgia House of Representatives on Thursday, February 8, 2018, in honoring Eunice Mixon with House Resolution 971. Mixon was recognized in the House Chamber of the Georgia State Capitol for being named the 2018 Distinguished Older Georgian.

“It was a great honor to recognize my friend, advisor and constituent, Mrs. Eunice Mixon, in the House chamber last week,” said Rep. Houston. “Over the past three decades, Mrs. houstonMixon has worn many hats: farmer’s wife, school teacher, nonpaid political consultant, community leader and member of over 15 state boards and commissions. Mrs. Mixon is truly an ambassador of South Georgia. She loves this state, she loves people and she has indeed made Georgia a better place to live.”

Eunice Mixon is the grande dame of Tifton and has spent decades serving her community and state. Mixon served as a doorkeeper for the State Senate for 12 years, and she has been a member of over 15 state boards and commissions over the past three decades, including the Georgia State Bar Disciplinary Board, the Georgia Student Finance Commission, the Heritage Trust Commission, the State Election Board and the Argirama Foundation Board.
