Rep. James Beverly Elected House Minority Leader

ATLANTA – The House Democratic Caucus elected State Representative James Beverly (D-Macon) as the House Minority Leader during caucus elections on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.

“In this time of high political tension, at the same time as ordinary Georgians have shown a willingness to cross party lines to vote for leaders who share their values, I look forward to turning the temperature down in our politics and supporting the values that Democrats and all Georgians share, like the belief that people who work hard for a living should not have to live from paycheck to paycheck and that no one should have to choose between putting food on the table for their family and taking their kids to the doctor,” said Leader Beverly.

In this position, Minority Leader Beverly is responsible for leading the House Democratic Caucus.

This will be Minority Leader Beverly’s sixth term in the Georgia House of Representatives and his first term as Minority Leader.

Representative James Beverly represents the citizens of District 143, which includes portions of Bibb County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2011 and currently serves as House Minority Leader. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and on the Ethics, Health & Human Services, Retirement, Rules, Small Business Development and Special Rules committees.
