ATLANTA – State Representative Jason Shaw (R-Lakeland) was recently appointed to serve as a member of the Deputy Whip team to the House Majority Caucus. Rep. Shaw was appointed to serve on the Whip Team by House Majority Whip Matt Ramsey (R-Peachtree City), and his appointment is for a two-year term concurrent with his service as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives.
“I would like to thank Whip Ramsey for appointing me to serve in this very important role within our Majority Caucus in the House,” said Rep. Shaw. “I am excited about this opportunity to work with my colleagues on the Whip team and in the Majority Caucus as we ensure the passage of meaningful legislation that our caucus stands behind.”
Members of the Deputy Whip team are responsible for monitoring legislation as it moves through both chambers of the General Assembly and helping their fellow House members understand the details of bills and resolutions.
“Representative Shaw has quickly developed a reputation as a thoughtful and dedicated legislator,” said House Majority Whip Matt Ramsey. “He will be instrumental to the effectiveness and success of the Majority Caucus during the 2015-16 legislative term in his role as Deputy Whip.”
The Deputy Whip team will include: Mandi Ballinger (R-Canton), Buzz Brockway (R-Lawrenceville), Valerie Clark (R-Lawrenceville), Geoff Duncan (R-Cumming), Micah Gravely (R-Douglasville), Rick Jasperse (R-Jasper), Trey Kelley (R-Cedartown), BJ Pak (R-Lilburn), John Pezold (R-Fortson), Regina Quick (R-Athens), Jason Shaw (R-Lakeland), Brian Strickland (R-McDonough), and Bruce Williamson (R-Monroe).
Representative Jason Shaw represents the citizens of District 176, which includes all of Atkinson and Lanier counties, and portions of Lowndes, and Ware counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010 and currently serves as the Vice Chairman on the Insurance Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development and the Economic Development & Tourism, Game, Fish, & Parks, and Small Business Development committees.
