ATLANTA— State Representative Jason Shaw received the Champion of Small Business award from the National Coalition for Capital on Monday, August 12, 2013.
“I am honored to have received this award from the National Coalition for Capital,” said Rep. Shaw. “I proudly represent small businesses in Georgia, and I will continue to work to preserve and create jobs within the state.”
During the ceremony, Rep. Shaw was recognized for his demonstration of leadership in supporting policies and initiatives designed to promote access to capital for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
“This award recognizes Representative Shaw’s important work to preserve and create jobs through access to capital policy that helps Georgia businesses grow and develop,” said Michael Votta, President of the National Coalition for Capital. “Representative Shaw has demonstrated he is a champion of small business, and his efforts will have an enduring positive impact on Georgia.”
Rep. Shaw was honored along with 24 other legislators and officials from across the nation. The National Coalition for Capital hosts an annual awards ceremony during the week of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Legislative Summit to recognize individuals for taking a leading role in fostering access to capital for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
The National Coalition for Capital is a non-profit, nationwide coalition of leaders supporting economic development and job creation through long-term access to capital for small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Representative Jason Shaw represents the citizens of District 176, which includes portions of Atkinson, Lanier, Lowndes, and Ware counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010 and currently serves as the Vice-Chairman on the Insurance Committee. He also serves on the Economic Development & Tourism, Game, Fish, & Parks, and Small Business Development committees.
