Rep. Joe Wilkinson Receives 2011 Environmental Leadership Award from Georgia Conservation Voters

ATLANTA – State Representative Joe Wilkinson (R-Sandy Springs) recently received a 2011 Environmental Leadership Award from Georgia Conservation Voters, a statewide non-partisan organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of all Georgians by making conservation issues a top priority with Georgia’s elected officials, political candidates and voters.

“It is an honor to once again receive this award. I am very appreciative of all the hard work and dedication to protecting our environment by the members of the Georgia Conservation Voters,” said Rep. Wilkinson.

Georgia Conservation Voters works with environmental and outdoor organizations across the state to develop shared legislative priorities each year. The legislators who received Environmental Leadership Awards were chosen based upon their votes and leadership on the common agenda.

“Representative Wilkinson stood up for Georgia’s families this year and actively worked to promote an understanding among his colleagues of the need to protect Georgia’s environment as an integral part of preserving our way of life,” said Rob Teilhet, Executive Director of Georgia Conservation Voters. “Throughout Representative Wilkinson’s 11 year legislative career, has been a leader in protecting our environment.”

Representative Joe Wilkinson represents the citizens of District 52, which includes portion of Fulton County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2000, and is the Chairman of the House Ethics Committee. He also serves on the Economic Development & Tourism, Health & Human Services, Insurance, and Natural Resources & Environment committees.
