ATLANTA – House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) recently appointed State Representative John Carson (R-Marietta) to the House Study Committee on Base Realignment and Closure.
“I am honored and pleased to be appointed by Speaker Ralston to this important committee to prepare Georgia for the next round of BRAC commission meetings,” said Rep. Carson. “Like Cobb County’s Dobbins Air Reserve Base, these military installations are vital to a community’s economy and to our nation’s security; therefore, it is crucial that we implement a plan to preserve our military bases, not just for Cobb County and Dobbins ARB, but for the entire state of Georgia.”
This fifteen member study committee, Chaired by State Representative Dave Belton (R-Buckhead), is established by House Resolution 1135 and will examine how to protect Georgia’s military installations from a future federal base realignment and closure action.
