ATLANTA – State Representative John Corbett (R-Lake Park) was recently appointed to serve as a member of the House Majority Caucus Deputy Whip team. Rep. Corbett was appointed to serve on the Whip Team by House Majority Whip Christian Coomer (R-Cartersville), and his appointment is for a two-year term concurrent with his service as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives.
“I am humbled by the confidence the leadership has shown by appointing me to this position,” said Rep. Corbett. “I’m honored to serve in this capacity.”
Members of the Deputy Whip team are responsible for monitoring legislation as it moves through both chambers of the General Assembly and helping their fellow House members understand the details of bills and resolutions.
The Deputy Whip team will include Reps.: Beth Beskin, (R-Atlanta), Chief Deputy Whip; Dave Belton (R-Buckhead); Shaw Blackmon (R-Bonaire); John Corbett (R-Lake Park); Micah Gravley (R-Douglasville); Dominic LaRiccia (R-Douglas); Eddie Lumsden (R-Armuchee); Jesse Petrea (R-Savannah); Betty Price (R-Roswell); Bert Reeves (R-Marietta); Brian Strickland (R-McDonough); and Bill Werkheiser (R-Glennville).
Representative John Corbett represents the citizens of District 174, which includes portions of Camden, Charlton, Clinch, Echols, Lowndes and Ware counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2014 and currently serves on the Game, Fish, & Parks, Intragovernmental Coordination, Transportation, Ways & Means and Natural Resources & Environment committees.
