Rep. John Corbett Appointed to House Study Committee on Life Insurance Consumer Disclosures

ATLANTA – House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) recently appointed State Representative John Corbett (R-Lake Park) to the House Study Committee on Life Insurance Consumer Disclosures.

“As legislators, we are held to a certain standard of transparency by our constituents, and the insurance industry should be no different,” said Rep. Corbett. “Our seniors should have full-knowledge of the benefits available to them, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure the best possible access to this information for them.”

This seven member Study Committee, Chaired by State Representative Carl Rogers (R-Gainesville) is established by House Resolution 806, and will study the need for life insurance consumer disclosure of long-term care and senior living benefits of life insurance policies to help seniors better understand their legal right of ownership, as well as options available to them under their policies.
